Postgraduate research

With 1,500 research students across the Norwich Research Park there is a wide range of exciting opportunities to study at postgraduate level at UEA.

An annual Postgraduate Research Showcase celebrates UEA's researchers of tomorrow, highlighting the broad spectrum of research explored by our postgraduate students.

Join us as an academic

The impact of UEA's research is recognised as a World Top 100 research leader in the Leiden rankings for 2013.

Our academics are active researchers and we have a large community of research staff and postgraduate research students.  Our aim is to support the development of all staff and to nurture early career researchers. Research is carried out within Schools and there are many collaborations between Schools, Research Centres and Research Groups.

Our inclusive academic community provides the ideal environment for effective research.

Join us as Research staff

We recognise the vital role that research staff play in maintaining and developing the research reputation of the University. We have developed a full programme of training and development for research staff and through supporting progression towards a sustainable research career we aim to improve both the impact and quality of UEA's research, whilst helping to create a satisfying and dynamic research environment.

UEA fully supports the Concordat, a national agreement to support the career development of researchers though increasing the attractiveness and sustainability of research careers in the UK.

In September 2012, UEA was awarded the 'HR Excellence in Research' badge by the European Commission in recognition of the commitment made by the University to implementing the principles of the Concordat.

(For reference, a UK-wide process, incorporating the QAA UK Quality Code for Higher Education, Chapter B11: Research Degrees and the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, enables institutions to gain the European Commission's HR Excellence in Research Award, acknowledging alignment with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for their Recruitment.)

The university is also a committed member of the Athena SWAN Charter, established to help drive forward gender equality in STEMM subjects (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine) and UEA is proud to have been awarded an institutional Bronze Award.
