Michael Cockerell Image About Michael Cockerell: Michael Cockerell is Britain’s most celebrated political documentary-maker, an Honorary Doctor at UEA and Fellow of Corpus Christi College Oxford. ‘You are no-one in British politics until you’ve been "Cockerelled"’, said The Sunday Telegraph.  He has made many award-winning programmes and specialises in witty and eye-opening TV profiles of our top politicians: from Margaret Thatcher, Enoch Powell and Alan Clark to Tony Blair, Boris Johnson and David Cameron.  His latest series, filmed over a year, is a 4-part 'fly-on-the-wall' series, called ‘Inside the Commons’. He has also gained rare access to film behind the scenes in traditionally closed Whitehall institutions including Number Ten, the Treasury and the Home Office.

Michael Cockerell has interviewed the last eight Prime Ministers and tonight he draws on his career to reveal what our political leaders are really like away from the cameras and how he has seen politics and politicians change over the years as their love-hate relationship with the media has developed.  With the use of television clips, some never seen before, his lecture aims to lift the lid on the secret world of personality and power in Westminster.
