International links: Collaboration in Research on Translation, Intercultural Pragmatics and Metaphor Theory with the Universities of Hamburg, Heidelberg, E.L.T.E. (Budapest), and Strasbourg.
LCS hosts visiting scholars from around the world. In 2012-13, our visitor is Huihua Zhu, a lecturer from the School of Foreign Studies, Jiangsu Normal University, China. She has a special interest in discourse analysis with a systematic functional approach.
A corpus-based contrastive research on modal expressions in news reports and editorials will be under way during her visit to LCS. She will also attend research seminars and other academic events.
Our postgraduate students also edit UEA's Norwich Papers, issues of which are devoted to translators and translation.
