The UEA Pharmacy Education research cluster brings together a broad range of academic staff involved in the development of medicines focused healthcare education.
The group’s primary interest is in the development, implementation and evaluation of novel teaching approaches.
The School of Pharmacy delivers educational programmes for pharmacy technicians, pharmacy and pharmacology undergraduates, pre-registration and postgraduate pharmacy professionals. This ‘lifelong learning’ involvement means that a major theme throughout our work is workforce development of pharmacy professionals.
This cluster is led by Dr Jeremi Sokhi and Dr James Desborough.

Dr James Desborough
Dr James Desborough expertise lies in medication review and medicines management health services research focused on older people. -
Mrs Laura Ellis
Mrs Laura Ellis’ education focus is on pharmacy practice and clinical therapeutics. -
Mrs Emma Marks
Mrs Emma Marks’ educational interests lie in pharmacy practice with research interests focussed on easing the transition from university to workplace. -
Dr Paul McDermott
Dr McDermott specialises in the development of electronic learning resources. Dr McDermott also has experience in natural product synthesis. -
Prof Anja Mueller
Prof Mueller’s investigates the role of chemokine receptors in cancer metastasis and novel therapeutics for cancer treatment. Research in this group also extends to studying the activation patterns of chemokine receptors in inflammatory disease. -
Dr Rosemary Norton
Dr Norton is involved in research on widening participation in higher education and develops innovative teaching resources in pharmacy and pharmacology education. -
Dr Jeremy Sokhi
Dr Sokhi’s expertise are in the postgraduate development of community pharmacists, integrating service user experiences into undergraduate education and the development of inter-professional learning activities.
