Doctor of Medicine (MD)
The Doctor of Medicine (MD) course is currently under review and we are consequently not accepting applications to the course.
The aim of the review is to allow the University to align the course more effectively with the three-year timeframe available to clinicians during their training for out of programme research to complete a doctoral level degree. The proposal is that this can be achieved by providing candidates with a structure that supports and facilitates completion of the research project and the writing of the doctoral thesis for examination within this timeframe.
Entry criteria are expected to remain similar to those for the current MD course.
Once the review has been completed details of the revised course will be available here.
We currently anticipate that by late summer the University will be able to offer an MD course open for applications from October 2017 with the earliest start date being 1 January 2018.
A research degree that integrates clinical practice with academic training and supervised research, is studied full-time over three years.
