UEA has a proud record of widening participation to higher education, and the social complexion of our student body is much less skewed than many other top 20 universities. Our aim is to enable motivated and able students from under-represented groups, particularly from East Anglia, to gain the advantages of higher education irrespective of their background.
We recognise the importance of widening participation across the whole student life-cycle. This starts with our well established outreach programme to improve access to UEA and higher education more generally. Our current students are supported to succeed, make the most of student life and achieve a good degree outcome. During their study we provide opportunities to ensure our students are best placed to benefit as they progress into employment or further study.
To achieve our aims we work collaboratively in partnership with external stakeholders, engaging with schools and colleges, HE providers, local authorities, NHS trusts and other educational stakeholders across the eastern region. We work closely with our neighbouring school, City Academy Norwich, to support their students through our role as co-sponsor.
