Structure

The University's academic structure has 23 Schools of Study operating within four Faculties - Science, Social Sciences, Humanities and the Institute of Health. Each Faculty is led by a Dean who reports to the Vice-Chancellor.

Administrative units report to the Registrar and Secretary and provide a range of centralised and distributed services to support the operation of the organisation.

An Executive Team led by the Vice-Chancellor and comprising the Registrar and Secretary, the four Faculty Deans, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) meets regularly and guides the operation of the University.

The University’s executive governing body is the Council where lay members, including the Chair of Council, sit alongside University staff.  It has a lay Chair.  The supreme academic authority of the University is its Senate which is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor.
