Module Overview / Introduction
This fully online module is designed for healthcare professionals who are engaged in clinical education, supervision, or academic roles and are ready to build on foundational teaching knowledge to lead and improve educational practices in their settings.
The module supports learners to develop their leadership and scholarship in clinical education by exploring how to lead learning, assessment, and feedback in diverse and often complex practice settings. A central feature of the module is the design, delivery, and evaluation of a work-based educational improvement project, providing a powerful opportunity to apply theory to practice and demonstrate educational leadership.
You will develop skills and professional insight that are difficult to acquire elsewhere, equipping you to support the development of the future healthcare workforce. By the end of this module, you will be equipped with the knowledge and principles needed to lead, manage, deliver, and assess effective learning experiences in practice settings.
To enrol on MED-7034X, you must have successfully completed MED-7165E Enhancing Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Clinical Education. Together, these two modules fulfil the requirements for the PGCert in Clinical Education and Leadership (PGCertClinEd Lead) and offer progression to the PGDip and Master’s level.

Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules and regular (five-yearly) review of course programmes. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, there will normally be prior consultation of students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff or sabbatical leave. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will endeavour to inform students.
