The University of East Anglia (UEA) has been recognised as one of the world’s top 10 universities for its impact on reducing inequality.
Overall, the University placed in the top 100 against three of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 – including for efforts to combat climate change and its impacts.
This year, the annual table ranked 1,646 universities from 116 countries and territories based on their progress towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
UEA stands out in three key SDGs, reflecting its commitment to equity and environmental sustainability:
These THE Sustainability Impact Ratings provide an opportunity for higher education institutions to highlight the positive work being done for society in terms of sustainability, health and well-being, gender equality, economic growth and justice.
Prof Julian Blow, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, said: “This recognition reflects UEA’s deep commitment to addressing some of the most urgent challenges facing society. Our strength in reducing inequality, alongside our work on climate action and poverty, demonstrates how our research and partnerships are helping to drive meaningful change on a global scale.”
