A new campaign to support key projects across the university through philanthropy was launched at UEA Court.
The ‘Dare to Do Different’ campaign will support the UEA Strategy2030 by focusing fundraising and support for UEA’s most important areas of research, people and academic endeavour.
Fundraising through the new campaign will support capital building works, student hardship funding, support for scholarship awards and student enterprise grants, supporting the student journey from the day of registration to the day of graduation.
UEA Court met for its annual meeting on October 10.
Court brings together the University’s key stakeholders to update on major projects at UEA. Court also includes a presentation of the University’s Statement of Accounts.
Proceedings at this year’s Court were introduced by the UEA Chancellor, Dame Jenny Abramsky, who spoke about her pride at being in her new role which she took up this year, her commitment to Higher Education and skills and her love of the wider region.
Dame Jenny described her fond memories formed from her time as a ‘naïve Undergraduate student’ in the newly formed UEA in the 1960’s, seeing the ziggurats being built and her hopes for and belief in the future of the Institution.
UEA Vice-Chancellor Prof David Maguire gave an update on key areas of Strategy2030 including student experience and education, research and campus projects.
Professor Kristian Bowles, Dean of Norwich Medical School, talked about how the University is contributing to training the clinicians and NHS health professionals of the future and Dr Nicola Hancock, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Innovation and Dr Soraya Jones, Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence, spoke about UEA’s work in innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurship, including the £1.4m invested via the Enterprise fund into 82 student and graduate businesses.
The digital recording of everyday memories can improve connections and help young people feel appreciated in ways not usually seen in the current care system, according to a researcher involved in a new study.
