The University of East Anglia (UEA) and Majmaah University in Saudi Arabia have launched a new international partnership aimed at enhancing academic collaboration, student mobility, and joint research initiatives.
Earlier this month, the collaboration commenced with a bespoke summer programme, which involved UEA hosting a two-week academic and cultural course for Majmaah University students.
A delegation from Majmaah University visited UEA last week and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to mark the institutional link.

In November 2024, a delegation from UEA, led by Prof Steven McGuire, UEA’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor International, visited Majmaah University’s main campus, and was received with exceptional hospitality.
Prof McGuire said he was pleased to host this return visit and to build on the positive foundations already established.
He added: “Saudi Arabia is undergoing a remarkable transformation - culturally, socially, and academically - and its higher education sector presents exciting opportunities for collaboration.
“We are proud to partner with Majmaah University to foster student and staff mobility, drive joint research initiatives, and build lasting academic connections that will benefit both institutions for years to come.”
Discussions are underway to deliver an MSc in Supply Chain Operations and Logistics Management at Majmaah University,as an international degree in collaboration with UEA’s Norwich Business School.
Also under development is a proposed 2+2 BSc in Digital Media, Computing, and Creative Technologies, allowing students to complete two years at Majmaah University and two years at UEA.
Prof Mohammed Alshehri, Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Majmaah University, said: “We have been impressed by the inspiring academic environment and spirit of collaboration at UEA.
“This partnership offers our students invaluable academic and cultural exposure, enabling them to engage with peers from around the world. We see this not as a short-term programme, but as an investment in the development and future leadership of our students.
“Together, we are building bridges of knowledge for future generations, driven by a shared belief in the power of education to transform lives and shape society.”
Majmaah University, established in 2009, is a public university located in the city of Al Majma’ah in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Province.
