A new Pro-Vice-Chancellor International will join the University of East Anglia (UEA) this summer.
Professor Steven McGuire will join UEA from the University of Sussex, where he has been Dean of University of Sussex Business School since 2015 and a member of the University Executive Team. He has considerable experience of international research and student recruitment.
He will support the delivery of UEA’s Strategy 2030 and drive forward ambitious plans to enhance the university’s international recruitment and reputation.
Before joining the University of Sussex, Prof McGuire was Director at the School of Management and Business at Aberystwyth University. He also taught at the University of Bath and was a visiting professor at the College of Europe.
He said: “'I am delighted to join UEA at this juncture in its history. UEA has a global reputation with a strong and vibrant international presence.
“I look forward to working with colleagues across the institution to make UEA Strategy 2030 a reality.”
UEA Vice-Chancellor, Prof David Maguire, said: “We are very pleased to be welcoming Steven to UEA to support our renewed focus on boosting our international engagement.
“Steven has extensive experience of working internationally to develop partnerships and recruit students. He will be a considerable addition to UEA.
“UEA is engaged in many areas of high-quality global research and we welcome thousands of international students to our campus so we are looking forward to this new phase of work to further develop our global profile.”
Steven’s research interests are in the areas of international political economy, international business and corporate political activity. He has a particular interest in the interaction of firms and governments in international trade, and has published papers on the World Trade Organisation.
