BBC Radio 4 Quiz Show ‘The 3rd Degree’ returned to campus after 13 years with host Steve Punt, to put UEA staff and students to the test.
The show, which last came to UEA in 2011, returned on Wednesday 24 April to record an episode for the new series. Recorded on location at a different university each week, the quiz show pits three students against three of their professors in an original academic quiz.
On the day, Alessandro Pinto (Biological Sciences), Marlowe North (History) and William Pik (Physics) represented the UEA student team, which went head-to-head against the UEA Dons team, represented by Dr Kelly Edmunds, Dr Geoff Hicks and Dr Robert Ferdman respectively.
The rounds vary between specialist subjects and general knowledge, from head-to-heads to quickfire bell-and-buzzer ones. The 'Highbrow and Lowbrow' round, in particular, is designed to test not only the students' knowledge of current affairs, history, languages and science, but also their professors' awareness of television, film, and pop culture.
The new series is due to air later this year – make sure to tune in and find out who won!
