My name is Oksana, a second year Actuarial Science student here at UEA. In 2015 I studied foundation at INTO UEA, which allowed me smooth progress into this magical university. Other than having high ratings and a gorgeous campus, UEA has a warm atmosphere with staff who are more than willing to help anyone they can, as well as students with all kinds of backgrounds.

I was born in a small town in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia, and moved to the US for 4.5 years when I was about 10, after which I moved to Panama to finish high school for 3.5 years. Having lived in so many different cultures, and being a new student so many times, I understand very well the challenges faced by international students, which is why I am more than happy to be in a position to be providing support for students, before you come to UEA, as well as while you are here.

This university provides so many opportunities, which is another reason why I love UEA so much! They have made my experience as a freshman quite fulfilling. I joined the International Student Society at the beginning of last year and have now become their treasurer, and it has allowed me to meet so many different people. I became a representative for my course as well as a member of the International Assembly committee of the Student Union. There are so many different societies and sports clubs – anyone could find a place for their interests. The Students’ Support Services is a great resource of help as well.

Norwich is a relatively small town, which is why I fell in love with it, but it’s big enough for all kinds of fun and a great nightlife. Situated so close to the beach, such as Cromer or Great Yarmouth, as well as having its own lake on campus, the sightseeing opportunities are tremendous! Even though I, myself, prefer hot weather, it doesn’t get too cold here either, which is also nice.

I am very excited to enjoy my time here throughout my degree!  Please contact me if you have any questions about studying at UEA, either via the Facebook link above or by email:

BSc in Business Management

Hi! I am Alisa, one of the many Russian students who have chosen UEA as a university to get their degree from. The course I am studying is MSc Brand Leadership where me along with 16 other people from 10 countries are studying the peculiarities of the modern world overpopulated with brands. We learn what does a brand mean, what it stands for and how to make it successful in a highly competitive environment.
If you ask me why I have chosen this university and this course I most probably won't be able to give you a logical explanation: there are so many factors that influenced my decision, which are no longer distinct now as I attempt to analyse it. To start with, I have spent three years studying my undergraduate degree at UEA, so I know the city and university pretty well. Secondly, the course I am currently studying received lots of favourable reviews, including those of my friends, so I had almost no doubts choosing the MSc programme. Although, I remember the day (almost 4 years ago) when I was nervously thinking about what and where I would like to get my bachelor degree. Then, I chose Norwich, basing my decision on a short visit to the city and brief dialogue with a member of UEA academic staff. Many would say my decision was absolutely irrational one, as I let emotions decide for myself. Now I can say that my intuition has never been better: Norwich is a good place to live and UEA is a good place to study. Should I say that I have never regret that my decision?
They say the world is a melting pot, I say UEA is a small version of it. Being here (at UEA) you are very likely to meet people from all over the world, learn the things you would never know. UEA provides an eye-opening experience: after some time here, you will never see the world in the same colours as you used to, it will become way more flamboyant, bigger yet so small at the same time. It is a 24/7 learning experience, and I am not talking about the actual studies. Yes, you are expected to study hard, to feed your curiosity with new information, to learn, to grow personally and professionally, but you also become wiser in so many ways.
In case you got bored of studies and the calmness of the city, there are plenty of opportunities to cheer yourself up varying from night-outs with friends to short getaways and long journeys to different places in the UK and/or Europe. Norwich is less than hour away from the coast, about 2 hours away from London and it takes only an hour to get to Amsterdam. So, don't believe those who say they are bored to death in this city, they are simply too lazy to choose the way of entertainment most suitable for them at any given time.
If you are now searching for an ideal place to study in the UK I wish you make right decision, and I also hope to see you someday at UEA.

MA Development Studies

I chose UEA because of its high ratings in the field of International Development both in the UK and overseas. Excellent teaching program and studying opportunities as well as amazing lecturers involved in worldwide research have given me a unique chance to greatly enrich my knowledge in the field. Multicultural and interactive environment in the School also has helped me view development issues from different perspectives.
My studying at UEA has been unforgettable not only because of academic achievements. I would say that it has been a great life experience full of exciting events and acquaintances. I have met a lot of interesting people and made many international friends with whom I enjoy my time here. I am sure we will stay friends for life. There is a genuine friendly atmosphere demonstrated by all the members of UEA life that it is impossible not to enjoy your time. Living on campus situated in a picturesque place is highly convenient and makes your busy student life less complicated.
As for everyone, student life can be sometimes challenging, especially if you are a foreign student used to a different academic culture. But be sure you will definitely enjoy your being here!
My name is Ksenia and I am a first year PhD student in the school of Film, Television and Media (FTM) at the University of East Anglia.
The decision to do a PhD is a difficult one for many students, as it involves a lot of issues to do with financing, managing studies and work and future career prospects. Once you decide that you definitely want to do it, it doesn't become easier: you have to write a proposal, get in touch with potential supervisors, make a formal application and secure funding.
I applied to over 10 universities in the UK for PhD and none of them offered me more guidance and support than UEA. Every single person I was in touch with at UEA throughout the long process of application, from the research staff to the PG admissions officers, has been nothing but kind, understanding and unbelievably helpful.
At the moment of writing this profile, I have spent only one month at UEA, however, this time was enough to fall in love with the university and its beautiful campus.
The life of postgraduate students is slightly different from that of ‘freshers' or even older undergraduate students. It is much quieter and much more studies oriented. However, the university does its best to provide entertainment for all students, no matter what their age and degree level is. There are film screenings, seminar series and socials organised almost every week to make sure PhD students have a fun and academically inspiring study environment.
The thing I personally love the most about UEA is its emphasis on Interdisciplinary. As a student you are never limited to your school, the events from all school of studies are widely advertised and open for everyone, which means you can always meet new people, share ideas and develop your knowledge.
The past month that I have spent at UEA has been one the happiest of my life, and I can't wait to continue my studies here, work on my research and enjoy all wonderful experiences UEA and Norwich have to offer.
