Hello there! My name is Delia, a second year Film and American Studies with a year abroad included and I am the Romanian Student Ambassador of 2014-2015. Having a young fascination with films I have volunteered for the Golden Island International Film Festival in Cyprus and I am currently part of Make Media video production company based at the University.

I chose to study a Film degree at University of East Anglia (UEA) because it is the 6th place of the UK university rankings on Communication & Media Studies and was voted the best UK university for student experience in the Times Higher Education magazine. Moreover, my experience at UEA has created greater insight into how media industry works and made me believe that dreams can easily come true. UEA provides cutting-edge research facilities, state-of-the-art technological equipment and allows the students to discover their passions through the Union - a charity run by Student Officers that aims to help you get the most out of your time at UEA. The Union provides professional support and advice on academic, welfare and housing issues as well as running over 160 Student Societies and 60 Sport Clubs. The most fundamental thing you need to know if you are coming to UEA is: no matter what traditions you have, what kind of passions and leisure activities you like to do – there is something for everyone here.

Personally, one of my favourite aspects as a student is that you are not limited to your course and school. You are constantly invited to different school of studies events meaning that you can always broaden your horizons and develop your knowledge. Academically speaking, the learning and teaching style is interested in encouraging students to develop individual study skills and are often asked to work in group situations.

In addition, Norwich is one of the most beautiful and attractive cities from Europe, being ranked in the Top 10 shopping cities in the UK and offering an outstanding quality of life. There are plenty of landmarks in the city such as two cathedrals, an open-air market, over hundreds of churches and a Norman Castle. Also, it is 10 minutes way by bus from the campus, 2 hours' drive to London and half an hour drive from Norfolk sandy beaches.

Finally, I encourage you all to be brave and see for yourself what life is at UEA and consider the advantages for being a student here. If you have any questions about studying at the University of East Anglia, please do not hesitate to contact me via the Romanian Students Facebook or by e-mail at Romanianstudents@uea.ac.uk

Salutare!
