Hi, I am Lana and I am the ambassador for the Middle East and Gulf region.
Currently I'm in my final year of an undergraduate degree in Biomedicine and honestly I’ve enjoyed every single day of it. My professors are incredibly helpful!
The main reason I chose UEA for my studies was that it’s one of the top-ranked universities in the UK, with more than 95.5% of its graduates working or starting further studies in the first 6 months after graduating. As an academic person, this really encouraged me to apply to UEA and even better it’s worth mentioning how helpful it is that we have all our lectures recorded and posted online for easy access whenever we needed them.
However, even though I joined the university solely based on its academic reputation, UEA has so much more to offer, from great social events to nearly 60 sport clubs for students to join. Apart from that I have to say that I do love the massive campus and its great amenities providing you with everything you need, if I had to choose a favourite spot of campus it has to be the benches by the lake where I do yoga twice a week.
At the moment I am renting a flat in the heart of Norwich with a river view which I adore, and even though Norwich is a small city there’s always something fun happening. My favourite spot in town is the Sicilian pizza stall in the market where you can get some of the best pizza in England!
It’s not easy being away from home, but studying abroad is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. You get to experience great things and meet people from all around the world and for me this made me realise how similar we all are no matter how different our culture could be. If I had to recommend three things to bring with you to the UK I’d say: spices from your home country, something to remind you of home and a notebook for journaling details of your journey and days here.
I am here to help and answer any questions you might have about life at UEA so why not chat to me directly through the Ask a Student platform or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also ask questions and join in at our Facebook page.
