UEA Code of Practice for Staff - Equality and Diversity

This Code of Practice demonstrates the steps that will be taken to ensure equality and diversity and to ensure its compliance with the Equality Act 2010. It sets out how we intend to create a working environment and culture where diversity is embraced by all and staff are treated with dignity and respect and valued in their diversity.

The Equality Act covers nine protected characteristics and the University has developed Codes of Practice and Briefing Notes for staff and managers to raise awareness, provide information and guidance, and inform them about their responsibilities.

The University has revised the Code of Practice on Equal Pay to incorporate the new 2017 Regulations and this document is now called the UEA Code of Practice: Equal Pay and Gender Pay Gap.

The University‚Äôs Equality Strategy is available on the Equality and Diversity Office webpages.

All staff should be aware of unconscious bias; the associations that we hold which, despite being outside our conscious awareness, can have a significant infulence on our attitude and behaviour. Further information can be found in our good practice guidelines Limiting Unconcious Bias.
