Module Overview / Introduction
Students taking this module will be able to integrate the key clinical and public health considerations in order to deliver pharmaceutical care to a range of patients experiencing acute and chronic cardiac conditions, including hypertension, acute coronary syndromes and heart failure.

Learning Outcomes
- Evaluate and interpret patient-specific data commonly associated with disease risk, general diagnostics and the monitoring of patient care in the acute and chronic cardiac setting
- Predict how these patient-specific data could be altered by drugs and disease processes
- Analyse patient-specific data in order to advise on treatment, primary and secondary prevention strategies in cardiovascular disease
- Recommend and apply an appropriate selection of patient-specific data to monitor patient outcomes
- Advise colleagues on the evidence-based treatment of patients with chronic heart failure and ischaemic heart disease
- Discuss cardiovascular disease and risk from a public health perspective

Study Days
The study day for this module is face to face and delivered at our sites in Harlow (Essex) and Norwich.
Assessment:
This module is assessed by a Case Based Discussion and is structured on a Pharmaceutical Care Plan based on a patient from the Pharmacists own practice. The assessment in 12 minutes, online via MS Teams.
Funding
NHS England-funded places are available for pharmacists delivering NHS services within the East of England. This includes those working in NHS hospitals, GP practices serving NHS patients, and community pharmacies dispensing NHS prescriptions.
For those outside the East of England or working for non-NHS service providers, self-funded or employer-funded places are available at a cost of £590 per module. In the event you are funded by your employer, full invoicing details and a financial purchase order will be required to confirm your place.
