Question 3. How many students with criminal convictions did your organisation reject for the period of January 1st 2020 - December 31st 2024? Please provide a breakdown by year.
Question 4. Of those who were rejected, what criminal offences were disclosed?
Our response:
On this occasion it is not possible to provide any of the requested information. In line with your rights under section 1(1)(a) of the Act to be informed whether information is held, we confirm that the University does not hold any recorded information for the number of students with criminal convictions which were not offered a place (rejected) and of those the criminal offences disclosed.
All applicants are asked to self-declare any convictions at the application stage (see our admissions policy for further information on this process). If they tick ‘yes’, they are emailed by the University and asked to confirm the conviction(s) status. Whilst some applicants had declared a conviction within their application, this was later confirmed as an error during the application completion, and therefore, no criminal convictions were confirmed for applicants who were then not offered a place (rejected) and we do not hold any of the requested information.
