Placement Year

The School of Psychology boasts a successful and well-established  undergraduate Placement year, which plays a vital role in bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice. Each year, many employers eagerly welcome students from our diverse psychology courses, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience in real-world settings.

This opportunity allows students to apply the skills and knowledge they've acquired during their studies to actual industry projects, enhancing their practical expertise and boosting their confidence. In addition, students gain access to a vast network of industry professionals, opening doors for future career opportunities.

Placements are undertaken after the second year of study. This placement will extend your studies by an additional 12 months, giving you the time to immerse yourself in a professional setting and apply the skills you've learned in a real-world context.

Throughout this process, our careers’ service provides comprehensive support to ensure a smooth transition into the workforce. Our dedicated staff assist you with refining your CV, preparing for interviews, and guiding you through the recruitment process. Additionally, the Careers service advertises regularly a wide range of organisations that are actively seeking talented students for their placements.

This structured support, combined with the opportunity to gain practical experience, significantly enhances your future career prospects.
