A UEA Creative Writing lecturer's series of stories about female astronauts on a mining mission in space in 2034, featured on BBC Radio 4’s coveted Book at Bedtime slot from 26 – 30 May.
Dr Naomi Wood, Associate Professor in Creative Writing in the School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing, was commissioned by the BBC to write 'Shakedowns in Hyperspace' – described as five short stories about a salty generation of future female astronauts.
The series, first aired on 26 May and featuring every night until 30 May in the coveted 10.45pm Book at Bedtime slot, which celebrates the best of literature.
The BBC describe the book as follows:
From disassociating astronauts to zero-gravity threesomes, explorations of nothingness to space lust and Pokémon hunts, this brilliantly original series with a feminist twist is a savagely funny take on the near future of women and space. The first in a darkly comic new series about women and space, from the award-winning author Naomi Wood, written for BBC Radio 4.
The episodes can be listened to on BBC Sounds.
