The University of East Anglia (UEA) has launched a new range of career-focused postgraduate courses – combining academic study with real-world industry experience to support student employability worldwide.
Structured as two-year degrees, these Master’s programmes are designed to equip students with the skills, experience and confidence needed for global careers, including a guaranteed option for their placement year.
The University has partnered with two leading organisations, Twin Group and Impact Consulting, to deliver the new placement provision.
Home and international students will benefit from intensive career preparation during the programme – including skills workshops, personalised guidance and ongoing progress monitoring to support them in securing relevant roles.
This leads into an eight to ten months placement in the industry during the second year of study, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in their chosen field and apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.
There are two distinct options to choose from, ensuring all students graduate with relevant, applied experience that enhances their employability:
Prof Steven McGuire, Senior Pro-Vice Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) at UEA, said: “Employability is at the heart of the University of East Anglia’s work. Our postgraduate degrees with placement opportunities are designed to ensure that students not only graduate with a strong academic foundation but also with valuable industry experience.
“This integrated approach helps students build confidence, develop practical skills, and stand out in the global workforce.”
The University currently offers more than 60 postgraduate programmes with placement pathways, including disciplines such as business, computing, global development environmental sciences, law, life sciences, media and creative arts.
Key features of these placement-integrated degrees include:
These programmes also strengthen engagement with employers by helping organisations understand how they can integrate Master’s-level placement students into their teams. For many companies, hosting a placement provides an opportunity to work with talented early-career professionals, while building a potential recruitment pipeline for future graduate roles.
Students will also benefit from a range of support during their studies, including dedicated careers services, employability workshops, and tailored guidance throughout their journey.
