The University of East Anglia’s (UEA) 2025 National Student Survey results have shown improvement across the board.
UEA has achieved an increase in positivity score across all seven themes – which cover different aspects of student education and experience – and on 24 of the 27 individual questions asked.
This reflects a high standard of student satisfaction at UEA, as judged by students. The improvements are seen across the majority of schools of study, showing the consistency of the student experience.
The National Student Survey (NSS) is commissioned annually by the Office for Students and invites final year undergraduates to provide feedback on their experience of the University, including their views on academic support, the student voice and learning opportunities. It is the biggest survey of final year students’ views in the UK.
Notable areas of improvement included 100pc positivity scores in areas including biology, chemistry, earth sciences, engineering, journalism, ecology and environmental biology, children’s nursing, mathematics, liberal arts, human resource management, mental health nursing, midwifery, molecular biology, biophysics and biochemistry, language and area studies, others in psychology, physiotherapy, social work, education, natural science (non-specific) and developmental psychology.
UEA Vice-Chancellor Prof David Maguire said: “These results show excellent progress being made across the teaching, experience, support and learning resources which we offer our students.
“In the past couple of years there has been a tremendous amount of work across UEA to deliver these improvements, and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to further build on last year’s positive results.”
Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience and Education, Prof Emma Sutton-Pavli, said: “I’m delighted to see improvement in all areas and increased consistency across the University.
“I’m particularly pleased to see positive scores increasing again for student voice as we pride ourselves on making real effort to ensure the views and experiences of our students are heard and acted on.
“It’s great to see the organisation or our courses being highlighted, as well as the clarity with which any changes to teaching are communicated to students. I’m also reassured to see the continued positive feedback on communication about our wellbeing support services.”
In 2025, 68pc of UEA final year undergraduates completed the survey.
UEA has achieved an increase in positivity scores in all aspects of assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, communication about wellbeing support services and the freedom with which students feel able to express their ideas, opinions and beliefs.
