Staff, students and visitors at the University of East Anglia (UEA) will now have quicker access to lifesaving equipment, thanks to a defibrillator donation from a charity.
Three Automated External Defibrillator (AED) boxes were donated by Heart 2 Heart Norfolk, a charity that aims to ensure communities across Norfolk, Suffolk and the UK have 24/7 public access to defibrillators.
When a cardiac arrest occurs, every minute counts; survival rates can decrease by around 10% for each minute without CPR or defibrillation.
The new AED boxes will enhance the existing provision of defibrillators across the UEA campus – ensuring that in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest, vital equipment can be accessed within minutes.
Locations of all AED units can be found on the UEA campus map; staff and students are encouraged to familiarise themselves with their nearest defibrillator.
Karen Thompson, Director of Health and Safety, Risk and Business Continuity, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Heart 2 Heart for their continued support in helping us strengthen our emergency preparedness.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to community wellbeing and proactive safety.”
