UEA academics feature in new National Geographic mini-series

A new mini-documentary series featuring UEA academics is now available on National Geographic’s global digital platforms.
Featuring expertise from across the university, the series so far includes contributions from Prof Amir Sharif, Head of Norwich Business School, Dr Helen Pallett and Prof Tom Hargreaves from the School of Environmental Sciences, and Prof Gerard Parr from the School of Computing Sciences. Prof Andrew Fearne, also from Norwich Business School, is due to appear in a future episode.
Narrated by Andy Serkis, Threads of Connectivity is not just about technology, but about the human drive to connect - and the vast architectures that have been built to fulfil that need.

Through cinematic storytelling, on-campus filming, and human-led narratives, the series explores how the systems underpinning modern civilisation are evolving, and what that means for daily life, opportunity, and the structures that connect us.
Weaving together voices from leading universities, NGOs, and industry pioneers, the series offers expert insight into how these transformations are reshaping the infrastructures we depend on - from the technology ushering in the new era of customer experience and smart cities, to biotech, power grids and transport.
By using academic insight, it offers audiences a deeper understanding of the technologies and networks that shape how we live, work and communicate.
The involvement of UEA academics highlights the university's commitment to sharing research and expertise with global audiences.
Their contributions help bring complex issues to life, exploring how advances in connectivity are transforming communities, industries and societies around the world.
Threads of Connectivity showcases the role research can play in helping people understand the changes shaping our connected future.
The first five episodes are available now on National Geographic, with the next five due to be released in the Autumn.
