A new Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience and Education will join the University this autumn.
Professor Claire Pike will join UEA from Anglia Ruskin University, where she has been Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education Enhancement).
She brings extensive leadership experience, having also served as Deputy Dean (Education) in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Deputy Head of the School of Life Sciences.
She played a key role in Anglia Ruskin University’s TEF Gold award, improved apprenticeship outcomes, and led initiatives to enhance equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Nationally, Claire is Chair of the University Alliance Teaching and Learning Network and President-elect of the Heads of University Centres of Biomedical Sciences.
She is a National Teaching Fellow, Principal Fellow of Advance HE, and Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology. She also contributes to sector-wide work with the Office for Students, Quality Assurance Agency, Skills England, and regional partnerships such as Innovate Cambridge.
She said: "I’m absolutely delighted to be joining UEA. From everything I have seen so far, UEA has a remarkable heritage and character as a dynamic, boundary-pushing institution that cares deeply about the education and experience of its students.
"I am excited to work in collaboration with staff and students across the university – and with local, national and international partners – to enhance our educational provision and student experience even further, and to make the most of education-related opportunities that will arise in the rapidly changing external environment."
