Delegates from University of East Anglia (UEA) have met key educational partners in Bangladesh as part of a successful visit to explore new opportunities.
Prof Steven McGuire, UEA’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor International, was joined by colleagues from UEA Global, Academic Partnerships, Norwich Business School and UEA’s School of Computing Sciences.
A meeting with the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC), MH Global and Bangladesh University of Professionals explored opportunities for strong partnerships and a vision for the potential for in-country hubs.
Prof McGuire said: “This has been an important and fruitful visit and we look forward to strengthening our relationships with partners in Bangladesh. Our proposed partners, Bangladesh University of Professionals and the Military Institute of Science and Technology, are part of a collection of fifteen, publicly-funded higher education institutions that operate with the support of the Army Welfare Trust.”
UEA colleagues hosted a counsellor training session to brief Bangladeshi partners on recent course and research developments at UEA.
The delegation also visited the British Council in Dhaka and met with representatives of the Department of Business and Trade to learn more about the latest developments in this fast-growing market for post-secondary education.

The visit to Bangladesh follows the recent announcement of a new partnership with Amity Global Institute, which will see students able to gain UEA undergraduate awards in Singapore for computing science and business management final-year entry courses, which is expected to extend via Master’s provision as well as further third year entry options in the coming years.
