The University of East Anglia has released the following statement from the Vice-Chancellor Professor Edward Acton, following the Parliamentary Select Committee on March 1, 2010.
"I welcome the Select Committee holding this enquiry and, as I told the chair in an exchange of letters in December, am delighted to have had this opportunity to give evidence to it today.
"I look forward to the Committee's report and to that of the independent review that I set up. If there are any lessons to be learnt they will be and should there be anything to apologise for or change we most certainly will.
"I hope to announce the name of the chair of the scientific appraisal panel, about which we have been consulting with the Royal Society, later this week.
"I would like to end by saying what enormous pride I have in UEA and particularly CRU and its staff who have already played an historic role in advancing humanity's ability to understand and monitor climate change."
