Explosions! Rocks! Rainfall! Risk! Scientist in an adventure with volcanoes

Prof Jenni Barclay - School of Environmental Sciences

Julian Study Centre lecture theatre, UEA

Volcanoes have inspired wonder and fear in equal measure for centuries. Yet we still do not understand them well enough to be able to forecast when they will erupt and how they will affect populations who live nearby. This talk will explore how volcanologists piece together the information that they have to help them understand volcanic eruptions, and how sparkling insights into volcanic behaviour can come from a surprising range of people: from meteorologists to sociologists, historians and writers.

Free, no booking necessary. For more information, email events@uea.ac.uk or call 01603 592130.

This event will be streamed live on our website. Tune in from 6.30pm on Tuesday 16 January, or watch the event recording on YouTube from the following week.
