We are ranked first for academic support and have been in the top 5 for student satisfaction (National Student Survey 2005-2017. Overall student satisfaction, English mainstream universities) since the survey began.
We are ranked eighth for research outputs (Times Higher Education REF2014)
We have a 100% Employability Success Rate (DLHE 2014/15 - six months post-graduation)
We are ranked 16th among UK Economics Departments by the Guardian League Table 2017 and the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017
Our research-inspired approach to teaching means our students benefit from the world-class research undertaken by our academic staff. 91.8% of the School’s research is scored as either “world-leading” or “internationally excellent”, compared with an average score of 77% across all other Economics departments. We offer an outstanding academic experience that provides a platform to fully explore the influence of economic analysis.
The School of Economics is a lively, close-knit community with friendly, approachable academic staff. Studying with us means joining some of the most satisfied students in the UK. In the 2016 National Student Survey we ranked 1st for academic support and 2nd for overall satisfaction out of all English mainstream university Economics departments, with a rating of 97 per cent.
The School of Economics is proud to be the only Economics Department in England to hold the Athena SWAN Bronze Award. The award recognises the efforts made by the School to promote gender equality and to address the challenges faced by the School and the discipline at large.
The School of Economics Newsletter 2017 gives an overview of student and staff activities within the school across the 2016/17 academic year.
