The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) has confirmed the School of Economics international research reputation: 65% of the research output of all our research active staff has been judged to be world leading or internationally excellent, with 95% in total being deemed of international standing. We are especially internationally renowned for our research into experimental economics, behavioural economics, industrial economics and competition economics. A new BSc in Economics and Economic Psychology is being launched in September 2010 in line with our research strength in experimental economics and behavioural economics. Students consistently rate our teaching and their overall satisfaction of the student experience amongst the highest of Economics departments in the UK, including placing us first in two of the last five years (source HEFCE, 2005-09). Prospective graduate students should note that the School of Economics holds 1+3 recognition from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) for its MSc courses in Economics, Environmental Economics, Experimental Economics, Industrial Economics, Finance and Economics and Political Economy. A number of other funding opportunities are also available.

While the School of Economics is the focus for economics at UEA, economics and related subjects are also represented in other parts of the university. In particular, we have joint teaching or research programmes with the Norwich Business School, the School of Political, Social and International Studies, the School of International Development, the School of Environmental Sciences, the School of Law, the School of Medicine, Health Policy and Practice and the School of Social Work and Psychology.  A number of our economists belong to one (or both) of two interdisciplinary research centres, the Centre for Behavioural and Experimental Social Science (CBESS) and the ESRC-funded Centre for Competition Policy (CCP).
