My UEA Story: Elizabeth

Hi, I am Elizabeth. I am currently a PhD student at Art, Media and American Studies School. My main reason for choosing UEA is because of its excellent research background and supportive supervisory team. Besides its academic excellence, the ideal living environment is another reason I chose UEA. The campus is surrounded by lots of trees and beautiful grasses and the view of its lake is magnificent. You could take a walk around the lake whenever you have time. You could say hi to our UEA bunnies (rabbits) when you see them on campus.

UEA accommodation has different types of rooms. To live on campus is a great opportunity to meet students from different nationalities and share our life experiences together. UEA offers a great variety of courses for postgraduate research student which is quite different from other universities. As a postgraduate research student, I have opportunities to partake in weekly seminars, workshops and training programmes that are practical and interesting. I am able to meet other postgraduate research students through various activities that are arranged by the school.

Apart from the study, UEA offers a numerous activities for students to participate. Students can meet with their friends at the cafés, restaurants or bars on campus. The Shop on campus offers wide varieties of foods with reasonable price so students can shop there if they do not have time to go to the city centre. Norwich is a lovely city with beautiful architecture and I am deeply attracted to the beauty of Norwich cathedrals, which are worth visiting. To walk in Norwich is enjoyable. I like walking on the pebble street on Gentleman's Walk. Norwich has four department stores and plenty of independent shops which is a nice place for shopping. I highly recommend you to have a lovely traditional British afternoon tea with your friends at the vintage tea house in the city centre.
