FOI_26-280 Injuries in practical learning workspaces

We have now considered your request of 14 October 2026 for the following information:

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 concerning recorded injuries occurring in practical teaching environments within your institution.

I have attached a short Excel questionnaire setting out the information requested for the academic years 2022/23 to 2025/26. The request relates to teaching workshops, practical teaching laboratories, studios and similar practical workspaces where students or staff undertake hands-on fabrication, preparation, model-making or similar practical activities.

The questionnaire asks for aggregate statistical information only. I am not requesting names, personal identifiers, copies of individual accident reports or information from which individuals could reasonably be identified.

Where a requested figure is zero, please enter “0”. Where the information is not recorded or not held in the requested form, please enter “not recorded/not held”. For 2025/26, if the academic-year dataset has not yet been finalised, please provide the latest available figures and state the date up to which the data is available.

If it is easier to provide the requested information in another existing format, such as an extract from your incident-reporting system or an existing table, that would also be acceptable provided the requested categories can be identified.

I would be grateful if you could complete and return the attached questionnaire, or provide the equivalent information in another suitable format.
