FOI_26-260 Uninterruptible Power Supplies
Date of response: 02 November 2026
We have now considered your request of 07 October 2026 for the following information:
Question 1. The number of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems in your estate and, where held, their manufacturer and approximate kVA rating (a summary is fine – site-level locations are not required).
Our response:
38 systems on campus.
The manufacturers are Riello, Gamatronic, BPC Energy Ltd, APC and CPS.
On this occasion it is not possible to provide all of the requested information. In line with your rights under section 1(1)(a) of the Act to be informed whether information is held, we confirm that the University does not hold any recorded information for the approximate kVA rating. The University do not record kVA ratings as it is outside of our requested data when an asset is installed, and not data we record routinely.
Question 2. The name of the current supplier(s) contracted to maintain these UPS systems. If UPS maintenance is delivered within a wider facilities management or M&E contract, please name that contractor and any UPS subcontractor.
Our response:
OCS.
Question 3. The start date, end date and any extension options of that contract.
Our response:
OCS contract - Start: 15 February 2021, End: 31 March 2027. No extension will be exercised.
Question 4. The annual contract value.
Our response:
On this occasion it is not possible to provide all of the requested information. In line with your rights under section 1(1)(a) of the Act to be informed whether information is held, we confirm that the University does not hold any recorded information for the annual contract value of our uninterruptible power supplies.
This is not a standalone contract, and UPS are included in a wider contract with OCS. We do not hold a separate value for UPS. Therefore, we do not hold the requested information.
Question 5. The procurement route used (e.g. framework name, open tender, direct award).
Our response:
Open tender – this service is part of a Total Facilities Management contract.
Question 6. The job title of the officer responsible for managing the contract.
Our response:
Contracts Manager.
