FOI_26-259 Student enrolment figures since 2020-21

We have now considered your request of 05 October 2026 for the following information:

Academic years: 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26. For 2025/26, please provide the figures as at the date you run the report, and state that date.

INFORMATION REQUESTED

Question 1. For each academic year, the number of new entrants.

Question 2. For each academic year, the number of those new entrants who had withdrawn with an effective leaving date on or before 31 January of that academic year, broken down by month of the effective leaving date (September or earlier, October, November, December, January).

Question 3. For each academic year, the number of those new entrants who had interrupted their studies with an effective date on or before 31 January of that academic year, broken down by month in the same way.

Question 4. For the students counted in question 2, a breakdown by reason for leaving, using the categories recorded in your student records system (for example the HESA reason-for-leaving categories), if this is held.

Question 5. For the students counted in question 2, a breakdown by broad subject area (CAH level 1, or by faculty or school if that is how your data is organised), if this is held.
