We have now considered your request of 14 August 2026 for the following information:
Please could you provide the following information relating to University of East Anglia-managed student accommodation for the academic year 2025/26:
Question 1. The total amount of money collected from students in additional accommodation-related charges, excluding rent and deposits
Our response:
£7,759.87.
Question 2. A breakdown of this total by the type/reason for the charge, for example:
o damage charges
o cleaning charges
o lost or replacement keys/student ids
o replacement or repair of accommodation items
o other charges applied to students
Our response:
Damage charges = £969.87
Cleaning = £0
Lost or replacement keys/student ids = £5,460
Replacement or repair of accommodation items = £0 (included in damage charges)
Other charges (Lock changes) - £1,330
Question 3. The number of individual students who were charged each type of additional accommodation charge
Our response:
Damage charges = 23 students
Cleaning – Not applicable
Lost of replacement keys/student id’s = 311 students (250 replacement keys and 61 replacement cards)
Replacement or repair of accommodation items – Not applicable
Other charges (lock changes) = 17 students

Our response:
The most common reasons for students receiving an additional accommodation charge were replacement keys, replacement cards (ID cards) damage charges and lock changes. There are no other types of accommodation charges made to students, therefore there are only four reasons for students receiving additional charges.
