FOI_25-247 International students on fully paid scholarships

We have now considered your request of 19 August 2025 for the following information:

I am writing under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information regarding international students on full scholarship at your university.

If the data is already held in tabular form, I would be grateful if you could provide it in that format (e.g. CSV).

If providing all three years would exceed the appropriate limits, please provide the information for academic year 2024/25 only.

For each of the academic years 2023/24, 2024/25, and (if available) 2025/26, can you please provide:

Question 1. The number of international students enrolled on a full scholarship (i.e. where fees and costs are covered by the university, government, or an external body).

Our response:

Please note that 'Fee Status' (whether UK/Home or International student) is determined by a number of factors, for example, an individual can be from outside the UK, but if they have ‘lived’ in the UK for purposes of other than education for 5 years, then they are eligible for Home Fees, the same is true for a UK citizen, who has not been living in the UK; they may need to pay international fees and classed as an international student for this purpose. Fee status of Home/International, is not tied to nationality.

Question 2. A breakdown of these students by nationality.
