We have now considered your request of 30 July 2025 for the following information:

Question 1. The number of university-owned buildings that are currently vacant and not in use?

Our response:

Three.

Question 2. How many of these are residential / commercial properties?

Our response:

Two.

Question 3. What type of properties are these, e.g. former student accommodation?

Our response:

Student accommodation.

Question 4. Would you be able to provide a list of these properties and addresses?

Our response:

Blackdale School Building (closed)

Norfolk Terrace (vacant pending remedial works)

Suffolk Terrace (vacant pending remedial works)

The address for all three buildings is University of East Anglia, Norwich Research Park, Norwich NR4 7TJ.

Question 5. What are the total running costs of maintaining these properties?

Our response:

On this occasion it is not possible to provide any of the requested information. In line with your rights under section 1(1)(a) of the Act to be informed whether information is held, we confirm that the University does not hold any recorded information for the total running costs of maintaining the three vacant properties. Maintenance expenditure is not recorded per individual building; therefore, we do not hold the requested information.

Question 6. What security provisions do you currently have in place for these properties?

Our response:

All University buildings are monitored via CCTV, and with onsite Security personnel.

Question 7. What is the total annual spend on securing these properties?

Our response:

On this occasion it is not possible to provide any of the requested information. In line with your rights under section 1(1)(a) of the Act to be informed whether information is held, we confirm that the University does not hold any recorded information for the total annual spend on securing the three vacant properties. Security provision expenditure is not recorded per individual building; therefore, we do not hold the requested information.
