FOI_25-152 Reports of Sexual Misconduct in 2023-24

We have now considered your request of 14 May 2025 for the following information:

Question. Please can you tell me how many incidents of:

• Sexual harassment, sexual assault (or however you define the ‘sexual violences’)

were reported to your university from students and staff, EXCLUDING reports made to your online reporting tool: https://reportandsupport.uea.ac.uk/ for the academic year

• September 2023 – August 2024

Our response:

Three incidents of sexual misconduct (sexual assault, rape, sexual harassment) wherein the reporting person was a member of staff or a student, were reported to and recorded by the university in academic year 2023-24.

These incidents were not recorded/reported within our Report and Support online reporting tool but were recorded by Student Support (including formal complaints made against students), our Access and Security department, or our Student Misconduct Investigation Team (for formal investigations conducted against UEA students accused of sexual misconduct – see General Regulations for Students, regulation 10.1.18.1 for our definition of sexual misconduct and regulation 10.1.18.2 for our definition of sexual harassment.
