FOI_25-121 Concessions for Norwich Medical School students since 2010

We have now considered your request of 19 April 2025 for the following information:
Question 1. How many concessions have been approved which have allowed medical students (on both the A100 and A104 course) to study beyond usual course limit of course length + 2 years?

To clarify the question, the time frame is: All academic years you hold records for, or since 2010 please.
Our response:

This figure is the number of all granted concessions approved to extend a student’s course duration beyond the standard course length plus two years, for MB BS Medicine and Medicine with a Gateway Year students. This does not include those students who went above the maximum course duration due to undertaking an intercalated degree (which is permissible for these courses).
We have provided figures back to the last year of complete data held, which is for students who completed their course in 2014/15 (started in 2010). Prior to this our records are incomplete due to the University’s records retention policies and schedules. Question 2. What were these approved concessions invoked following? (ie appeals, End of Year EC requests, break in study etc). Please provide a breakdown of the number in each category

On this occasion it is not possible to provide all of the requested information. In line with your rights under section 1(1)(a) of the Act to be informed whether information is held, we confirm that the University does not hold any recorded information for the nature of two concessions for Norwich Medical School students noted in our response to question 1.
