FOI_25-031 Accommodation allocation
Date of response: 14 February 2025
We have now considered your request of 24 January 2025 for the following information:
Question 1. Does your university guarantee accommodation for undergraduate students who select your institution as their 'insurance' choice via UCAS?
Our response:
The University of East Anglia (UEA) does not guarantee accommodation for undergraduate students who select UEA as their 'insurance' choice via UCAS.
Question 2. Does the university guarantee accommodation for undergraduate students who select your institution as their 'insurance' choice via UCAS if they have identified as having a medical need/ disability on their application?
Our response:
We do not formally guarantee accommodation for students who choose the UEA as their insurance choice, however where there is a medical need that necessitates university accommodation, that undergraduate student would be prioritised for a room.
Question 3. Are students who have selected you as their 'insurance' choice able to register/apply for accommodation with you prior to results day?
Our response:
Yes.
Question 4. For the academic years 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25, how many undergraduate students who had originally selected your university as their 'insurance' choice but then attended your university did NOT get allocated university accommodation?
Our response:
Zero (of those who applied for university accommodation).
Question 5. For the academic years 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25, how many undergraduate students with an identified medical need/ disability who had originally selected your university as their 'insurance' choice but then attended your university did NOT get allocated university accommodation?
Please note that I am not asking for figures relating to students who applied through Clearing for a place with you, I am only interested in undergraduate students who applied through the original UCAS main scheme application process
Our response:
Zero (of those who applied for university accommodation).
