The MoveX Lab houses the UEA Physiology team. Offering research, consultancy and teaching opportunities, their work focuses on integrative human physiology and basic science in healthy individuals.
Specifically, the team seeks to better understand the determinants of human health and physical function, and how this knowledge can be translated to clinical settings for improved patient care.
In addition to mechanistic research, the team also offers a range of physiology support to local athletes within the region, including work with local running clubs and the Norwich City Football Club first team.
The Physiology suite is equipped with state-of-the-art research equipment, enabling investigations into cardiovascular, pulmonary, microvasculature and musculoskeletal dynamics. At present the team are focusing on two project themes:
The relationship between chronic exercise training, the gut microbiome, and musculoskeletal health.
The human physical response to environmental stress (heat, cold and oxygen), and how this can be used to inform clinical and occupation outcomes.
