Introduction to the Primary PGCE at UEA
The Primary PGCE(M) is a 38-week, full-time course which starts in September and finishes the following July. Trainees spend the majority of time in schools – with up to 60 days of taught sessions at UEA and 120 days in school placements. Placements are in two different schools, helping trainees to appreciate the diversity of how schools work and to develop a repertoire of teaching approaches.
UEA’s PGCE is based on the principle that you can only inspire and teach children well if you really understand them. We aim to produce reflective and inspirational teachers, who value and build upon the rich variety of backgrounds and experiences children bring to the classroom.
The Primary PGCE combines academic study at Master’s level (90 Master’s credits) with professional practice and leads to QTS.
