Improving mEntaL hEalth ViA life sTory work for kinship childrEn: A realist review [ELEVATE]

Dr Simon P Hammond (School of Social Work, Sociology, and Education and Lifelong Learning) and Dr Ella Mickleburgh (Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust) have been awarded a grant of £200,000 from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) for an exciting project to improve mental health support for children and young people in kinship care.

Working with carers, young people, and professionals, the team will undertake a realist review, bringing together evidence on Life Story Work and support for kinship children (aged 0–17).

The project will co-produce the first evidence-based practice guidance for Life Story Work in kinship families and feed into the wider NIHR funded LIMITLESS research programme.

UEA project lead: Prof Karen Heywood

Partners: University of Edinburgh (lead), European Space Agency, University of Gothenburg

Prof Karen Heywood and colleagues in the school of Environmental Sciences have been successful in obtaining a 36-month grant from NERC (Natural Environment Research Council), led by the University of Edinburgh.

This project will use new autonomous observing technology to address a central challenge in climate prediction. The application had a value to UEA of £234k.

SALACIA: Shells – Ancient cLimate or Altered Clumped Isotope Archives

Partners: University of Liverpool, University of Manchester

Dr Alina Marca and researchers in the School of Environmental Sciences and School of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Pharmacology have been awarded a 36-month grant from NERC (Natural Environment Research Council).

This grant is looking at preservation of shell fossil material used for understanding how the Earth’s surface environment has developed over geological time.

The application had a total value of £893k, split between the UEA and two collaborators, University of Manchester and University of Liverpool.
