The School of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Pharmacology welcomes Dr Trey Koev as Lecturer in Drug Delivery & Pharmaceutics, whose research explores innovative magnetic resonance approaches to understanding biological systems and disease.
Dr Koev's new role follows five years of postdoctoral research in the group of Dr Matthew Wallace, where they developed NMR methods for biological and biomedical applications, focusing on probing the molecular mechanisms driving intercellular interactions in health and disease, and structure-function relationships in materials and formulations for biomedical applications.
Prior to this research, he completed his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Quadram Institute Bioscience, supervised by Prof Yaroslav Khimyak and Dr Fred Warren.
At UEA, Dr Koev’s group will combine novel magnetic resonance methodology with materials chemistry and chemical biology to develop new spatiotemporal magnetic resonance platforms for studying metabolic activity in dynamic biological systems, with particular focus on immune dysregulation in health and disease, with the aim to turn molecular insights into new treatments and diagnostic tools.
UEA scientists have uncovered a hidden property of light that allows it to twist, spin and behave differently - without mirrors, materials or special lenses.
