From campus quiz nights to Quizified: UEA couple create daily brain‑boosting app

Finding both love for each other and quizzing during their time on campus, two University of East Anglia graduates have created an app to boost general knowledge with a daily quiz challenge.
A shared love of quizzes that began at UEA in the early 1990s led Nick and Annette Arnott to create Quizified, a fast‑growing quiz app now played by more than 7,000 people each day.
Designed as a quick, 10‑question brain workout across 10 different subjects, Quizified has been described by players as a fun, daily challenge that brings a spark of competition to people’s routines.
Now married for nearly 30 years, Nick and Annette first met at UEA, where their mutual enthusiasm for trivia quickly became part of student life.
They were regular contenders at pub quizzes on Sunday evenings, and their quizzing credentials were solidified when they represented UEA in the Millennium Quiz Final, held at the Oxford Union and hosted by the late broadcaster Nicholas Parsons.
Fast‑forward to today, and that lifelong love of trivia has found new life in Quizified. Nick, now 54, and Annette, 52, both work on the app from their home in Sevenoaks, Kent.
The idea was simple - a daily mixture of general‑knowledge questions to help people learn something new in just a few minutes.
“We wanted to create something people genuinely look forward to each day,” said Annette. “Something fun, simple, and satisfying - that keeps the mind active and the competitive spirit alive.”
With support from their tech‑savvy friend, they brought the idea to life, and the community of players has grown rapidly.
Nick, who studied Applied Computing, has spent 30 years building and selling successful businesses and now also works as an angel investor. Annette, who graduated in History, volunteers with Oxfam and her local library while contributing to the running of Quizified.
