College joins with UEA for a new Higher Education partnership

From September 2018, South Essex College’s University Centre and the University of East Anglia (UEA) will form an exciting collaborative partnership to offer a range of high quality HE programmes in Essex.
The University, ranked UK Top 15 and World Top 200, will award the College’s popular HE programmes, including BSc (Hons) Psychology and Sociology, BA (Hons) Special Educational Needs and Disability Studies.
A range of other programmes are in the process of being validated by UEA; these include BSc (Hons) Criminology and Forensic Investigation, BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance, BA (Hons) Counselling and BA (Hons) Early Years Education.
UEA is known for its world-leading research and outstanding student experience, it was awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework and is a leading member of Norwich Research Park, one of Europe’s biggest concentrations of researchers in the fields of environment, health and plant science.
Colin Bladen-Kopacz, Dean of HE for South Essex College, said: “As part of our commitment to provide high quality degrees at the College, we are extremely pleased that our programmes will be validated by such a reputable institution.
“Students will benefit greatly from our new partnership, it’s a very exciting time for our higher education provision.”
Professor Neil Ward, UEA Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic), said: “UEA is delighted that South Essex College is joining our established network of academic partners and we look forward to the College’s first students studying towards UEA awards starting in September 2018. This new partnership reinforces UEA’s commitment to higher education in our region and we are excited to be working with the College to support the further development of its provision.”
Along with the University of the Arts London, who validate the College’s art and design degrees, the College’s University Centre offers a strong higher education portfolio of courses for students.
