The Use of Gaskell and Ure with Lower School Pupils

(These extracts relate to Ian Luff's article in Teaching History, No. 105 on 'speaking and listening')

It is clear that some level of abridgement and/or careful selection of passage will be required in using these texts. The essential point to remember is to make Ure or Gaskell's meaning clear without removing too much period and specialist vocabulary. Good luck! (Ian Luff).
