The trial question is ‘Are the
Nazis guilty of starting the fire?’
Two pupils act as lawyers for the
defence and prosecution. Ten students act as witnesses. There
are 4 witnesses for the prosecution: Shirer, Halder, Koestler and
Rauschning. There are 6 witnesses for the defence: Lubbe, Roth, Sack,
Wingurth, Hayes, Delmer. The prosecution goes first. One
by one, it calls its 4 witnesses. The defence
goes next. One by one, it calls its 6 witnesses.
After all the witnesses have given
their evidence, the two lawyers give their summaries and appeal to the
jury. The jury, meet, discuss and vote.
