The UEA Travel Fund is designed to support school groups and individuals who wish to visit the university. 

School groups or individuals who are UK residents and meet our specific criteria (outlined below) are assisted with the cost of travel to outreach-related activity or the following events:

  • Open Days

  • Applicant Days

  • Interview Days

  • Student Shadowing Days

  • Subject Specific Events

Our travel fund exists to support those facing additional barriers in education access our events. To access the fund, individuals must be studying, or must have studied at a state School, Sixth Form, College or Academy in the UK and meet at least one of the criteria outlined below:

  • Eligible for Free School Meals OR Pupil Premium within the last 5 years

  • Students currently in local authority care (‘looked after’) and students who have previously been in local authority care (‘care leaver’).

  • Young carers and young adult carers - Young carers have unpaid caring responsibilities for a family member with any type of illness, disability or addiction, who cannot manage without the young carer's support.

  • Estranged students - Students who are irreconcilably estranged from their parents, meaning that they have not had verbal or written contact with any living biological or adoptive parents for a significant period, and this will not change.

  • People from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.

  • Refugees or sanctuary seekers.

  • Mature students, defined as prospective students aged 21 and over, with no previous university experience.

  • Have a disability or specific learning difficulty as defined by UCAS:

    • Student has a social/communication impairment such as Asperger's syndrome/other autistic spectrum disorder

    • Student is blind or has a serious visual impairment uncorrected by glasses

    • Student is deaf or has a serious hearing impairment

    • Student has a long standing illness or health condition such as cancer, HIV, diabetes, chronic heart disease, or epilepsy

    • Student has a mental health condition, such as depression, schizophrenia or anxiety disorder

    • Student has a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia, dyspraxia or AD(H)D

    • Student has a physical impairment or mobility issues, such as difficulty using your arms or using a wheelchair or crutches

    • Student has a disability, impairment or medical condition that is not listed above

    • Student has two or more impairments and/or disabling medical conditions
